Going ultralight is often seen as expensive in the backpacking world, after all you're often balancing weight, quality and price. Well this list shows you that going ultralight isn't just for those with money, and a sub 10lb baseweight can easily be achieved through a few pieces of budget gear that can be found at a very cheap price compared to many cottage manufactures' products. The whole list which has more or less everything you need for your first trip can be purchased for less than $400, not even breaking the $500 mark. As a lot of the budget pieces are from AliExpress, you may need to allow a few weeks for delivery. This list also has suggested upgrade pieces if your budget isn't so tight or just to provide you with some alternatives closer to home.

Enlightened Equipment Revelation Clone with sewn-through baffles. Good enough for temperatures down to just above freezing. It is recommended that you wash the quilt and dry it to give it more loft and more insulation. If budget allows possible upgrade is the Hammock Gear Econ Burrow or the UGQ Outdoor Bandit Quilt
