Going ultralight is often seen as expensive in the backpacking world, after all you're often balancing weight, quality and price. Well this list shows you that going ultralight isn't just for those with money, and a sub 10lb baseweight can easily be achieved through a few pieces of budget gear that can be found at a very cheap price compared to many cottage manufactures' products. The whole list which has more or less everything you need for your first trip can be purchased for less than $400, not even breaking the $500 mark. As a lot of the budget pieces are from AliExpress, you may need to allow a few weeks for delivery. This list also has suggested upgrade pieces if your budget isn't so tight or just to provide you with some alternatives closer to home.

Backpack: 3F UL Frameless Backpack (40+16L)
A frameless backpack at 56L capacity in total is more than enough for all of the gear on this list plus nearly a week's worth of food. The backpack uses the sleeping mat featured later on to give itself more structure and allow it to carry more weight comfortably.
